Internship interviews

Today I had two interviews on the phone for a summer internship and I expect to have more since I’m looking for an internship…
Today my two interviews were with google for Linux System Administrator in Manhattan. I’m not sure what exactly they look for, weather concrete answers or thinking process or somethings else, but I’m not able to say how well I did, given that I think I answered to all their questions except for 1, but they helped me on 2-3 to get to the answer. I expect an email soon with some info about what happened. There will be more then.

The start of the semester ( yet again )

Well, the new semester is a fact. As usual, we went to work in the morning. On Mondays, I have only one double class: Multimedia Web Design. I am taking this class because there are no other interesting classes to take most of all… I was surprised that the let me take it without asking anything about computers and design etc. All in all it looks like an interesting class. It is about Flash 8, we have to blog, because of which I’ve added a new category for the class, we will create podcasts, videocasts…

Today, on the other hand, will be pretty nasty day. At 2:30 I have Economic Thought II that will go until 5:20 and right after that, at 5:30, behavior I, which is also a double class and goes to 8:10. I have no idea why one is 10m shorter, but I don’t care…

On Wednesday I have no classes, so I’ll spend the day working in the Lab and studying for Thursday, for Algorithms where we have to learn the first 3 volumes of The Art of Computer Programming by Knuth.

That was my schedule for the week for the next 3-4 months. I don’t expect any drastic changes.

I have an interesting post to write tomorrow. I promise…

wordpress 2.1

After a long fight with the new (slighty buggy) wordpress 2.1, I’m finaly upgraded. My biggest problem was with polyglot and the validation. Few things to have in mind:
- Polyglot requires bigger cat_name in wp_categories in the database ( I made mine 200 from the original 55 )
- A closing quote is missing in category-template.php in wp-includes ( somewhere around line 111 I think it was)
- locale.php is now in a class WP_Locale so if you are including the file from somewhere else, it will give you fatal error.

So far I have no other remarks.

Five things, you don’t know about me

Few days ago I was challanged byafx to write “five things, you don’t know about me”. I’l try to respond…
I’m sitting 10 minutes and I can’t start…

1. The classical: I don’t smoke, I don’t drink alcohol and I don’t look for women (because I have one)

2. I was a bad student in High School. I have my grade books here with me and I’ll publish them soon as a proof. All teachers used to tell me that if I don’t study I’ll not do well. But I think I managed to proove them wrong and show them that their system of education is not a factor to show how well one can do in life.
2.1 I hate to proofread my own writings that’s why I have tons of errors

4. I have a weaknes - gadgets… When I see a cool gadget I want to have it. And I’m very happy when I do so. Also when I buy them, even though they are not vital, I put them in good use and they never become dusty.

5. I don’t believe in god(s), the way the major religions describe them.

I’m sure there are people that know all 5 things about me but most will not know at least 1.

End of vacation

Where should I start… There is alot to write about. The last time I blogged was about a month ago … The trip to Bulgaria was not bad. We arrived but our luggage did not. After 2-3 days our luggage arrived as well just on time for Christmas. Everyone was happy because they got their presents. After a couple of days my sister arrived from Spain and her luggage was missing too. Fortunately again after a couple of days her bag arrived and everything was OK. On the 30th of December Ricardo - my sister’s boyfriend - arrived. The same day he arrived we started showing him varoius bulgarian food in different restaurants. For the 7 days he stayed in Bulgaria, every night we had a special dinner either in a restaurant or some other place with lots of food :). He was very pleased from his stay in Bulgaria and at the end he said that every bulgarian dish has some variation of milk - yogurth, chees, cream etc…

After my sister and Ricardo left, there was one week left for us to buy some clothes, visit the grandparents go to a doctor etc. The Friday before we left we had a special event for st. Tatyana ( my mother’s name).

There was one other thing to do while in .bg we couldn’t do it. The trip to bulgaria was very good. We ate alot and we didn’t want to look at food at the end…

One more thing. I am laptopless and I’m waiting for apple to release Leopard now…
