Linux-Mac software

So, I’m also using the latest Ubuntu at home. I decided to keep it for 1 reason: I’m too used to Expose from mac, and only Xgl allowed me to run compiz. I tried to run it under slackware, but it took me a while to get to nowhere. After I had the look and feel and all servers running, I started to look for programs under linux that I’m using for my daily work and here is what I got:

| Rhythmbox | Amarok | iTunes | Music | here the situation is a little tricky, but so far I think I like Rhythmbox the best. |
| Totem-xine | Kaffeine | VLC | Movies | I like VLC the best of all, but it has a problem with the Passthrough spdif option, that’s why I don’t use it under Linux. Sometimes I change VLC with mplayer. |

Ако не си обърнал внимание Adium ползва библиотеката от и Pidgin - libpurple. И тук мисля, че Pidgin е 100% еквивалент. Дори не еквивалент, ами същото си. Само прозореца е различен

Да, ползва същата библиотека, но има и голяма част Cocoa, което позволява на потребителите да си правят каквото си искат с интерфейса (на списъка с контакти, на прозореца за писане и т.н. ). Точно това, за мен, го прави невероятна програма. libpurple + Cocoa интерфейс = победител
Иначе аз ползвам Pidgin и преди да мина на мак ползвах само Gaim и нищо друго.
